Ambergris Caye

This is a map of Ambergris Caye, the largest and most inhabited island in Belize. The islands sits just off the Barrier Reef, surrounded by the Caribbean Sea. The majority of the population lives in San Pedro to the South.  It's bordered by Mexico to the North, separated from the X'calak peninsula by the narrow Bacalar Chico channel.

San Pedro is the center of activity and night life for Ambergris Caye.  You can check out San Perdo on: http://www.ambergriscaye.com/. At the far north tip of the island, 18 miles from San Pedro, sits the Palmarosa.  It's 18 acres of land that stretches from the
Caribbean Sea to the Laguna De Cantena. It is at the heart of the Bacalar Chico World Heritage Site. More information can be seen at:  http://www.northernbelize.com/see_bacalarchico.html .  In calm seas the Palmarosa can be reached from the East side of the island by boat.  When experiencing easterly winds, the preferred method of travel is on the West side of the island, cutting through the Boca Bacaluar Chico.  The Palmarosa will be the adventure of a lifetime from the minute you climb into the boat in San Pedro till the minute you leave your beautiful piece of paradise.
